Farm Credit System

The Farm Credit System is a nationwide network of lending institutions and specialized service organizations that are owned by their customers. Congress created the System more than 100 years ago to provide American agriculture with a dependable source of credit and closely related services.

Today, through its banks and associations, the System provides more than one-third of the total credit used by America's farmers, ranchers and agricultural cooperatives. The System also serves the credit needs of rural homeowners, electric and telephone cooperatives and rural water systems.
